Newest Clay Cr8tions...such as they are....
| at 8:12 PM
Greetings and Salutations!!!!
Sorry I haven't posted in a while, but I've been dealing with some pretty intense medical issues : (
As the TITLE implies I've been working on a few clay projects and haven't finished ANY of them yet....
That's the frustrationg part of EDS that I ABSOLUTELY HATE!!!!!!! I never know from one day to the next and many days one hour to the next what part of my body is going to "act up" OR decide it wants attention through EXCRUTIATING pain... yes, this is a mini-pity party...over and done with...sorry!!!
Anywho....
Here's some pics of my works in progress...don't expect much : )
This is a method of clay pot making that has been used for THOUSANDS of years : ) You start with a coil pot, much like the ones we made in Grade School...smooth them out and then do what you will...The leaves are a top that lifts off so that you could put candy or Autumnal Treasures within it's fruit-like formation : )
MANY of these leaves came from ACTUAL pumpkin leaves from our very own Pumpkin Patch in our back yard : ) I made a mold of the real leaves so that myself and others in the future could use them LLLLOOONNNGGG after they real leaves are gone : )
My wonderful teacher, MIKKI hudgins, @ MANASSAS CLAY (Old Town Manassas), calmly helped me cr8 this interesting pumpkin : ) She has the patience of a SAINT : )
Please take care and God bless!!!
Luv, hugz, & blessings, tia : )

He wanted something to reflect the kitchen's theme: FISHING...so, I came up with an even better idea..Gregory is a devout Christian and a devout Fisherman so I utilized BOTH of these with the "Christ Fish" along with another artist's rendition of this and voila!
By the way, the "Angelic Christ-Fish" isn't my own design... I don't know whose it is, but to whomever created this, thanks!!!! (If you do know who did it, I'd LOVE to give her/him credit for it)
Please take care and God bless!!!

Thrown Clay Bowls, Carved and Painted:"Faith, Hope, Love..."

I threw this pot with nothing particular in mind for the decorating...this sort of just popped into my head, as do most of my creations...I can envision them and then try to replicate what's in my "Mind's Eye"
I free-handed the carving of the hearts with the cursive words... this is MY OWN DESIGN.. it was nearing Valentine's Day and LOVE was on the brain : )
I painted this with underglazes on a green, leather-hard, low grog, Miller 80? clay...
I didn't glaze the outside as I was trepidacious that the colors might run and ruin the precise lines and cursive wording...
I ABSOLUTELY DETEST how the interior red glazing came out..oh well...can't win them all, I guess...
Unbeknownst to me at the time when I carved the hearts around the base, there are 13 of them ...
The quote is from 1Corinthians 13:13... wild, huh???
The Lord works in mysterious ways ; )
Thanks 4 looking!!! Take care and God bless, tia : )
More Clay Projects (thrown and hand built) : )
Labels: Clay Projects | at 8:04 PM
I used a low grog clay Miller 80, I think and glazed it with Chun Celadon...
My first attempt was an abyssmal failure as I forgot to slip and score past the bottom few layers thus ending up with 3 hours worth of pieces : ( I could've cried!!! But we all are in agreement that this 2nd attempt was a much better result because of it : )
Thanks 4 looking!!! Take care and God bless, tia : )

I have NEVER been one to just cut these out, glue them together and give them out...nooo...it's gotta be the best I can make it, even staying up ALL NIGHT LONG to finish them, NO JOKE!!!
Jaxsun picked out the colors and how he wanted them combined and here's the final result!!! : )
Here's the inside of the card as well...

He is also ABSOLUTELY LOVED and ADORED by his only nephew, our son, Jaxsun : )

Working on a Toad Abode
Labels: Clay Projects | at 7:00 AM
Our son, Jaxsun, saw a Frog House in a catalog that was fairly expensive. I told him when I saw it, "Oh, I could do that..."Shouldn't have opened my big mouth..."Momma, will you make me a Frog House for the cool lookin' frogs and toads on the front porch at night?"
I took one of the pots I threw in my Clay Class and set about creating a "Toad Abode"
It's almost finished....
Take care and God bless, tia : )
